Ego can never let you be fulfilled as it clings on to things, it needs crutches so it attaches itself to something or someone be it a nationality, family, community, sexuality, physique, work and so on. Once attached it often takes the form of pride though the reality is that there is nothing to be proud or ashamed of as let’s say one is proud of one’s achievements then if one drops them one may be proud of dropping them as well, ego is sneaky when it comes to this.

You see this ego is fragile and can easily be collapsed cause its not real and whatever is not real never lasts, but for most people its the foundation of their lives that’s why when it fades away everything seems to turn into chaos which why people wail when their family passes away or their business fails or something or the other which provided some sense of security or relevance is lost.

This chaos is considered the first stage in spirituality but many dread it and worry. Right now a lot of people are suffering as they have become their own worst enemies. The idea that no pain no gain is a very masochistic one, as in you cannot experience anything beautiful without suffering and if you do then you don’t deserve it as you have not suffered to earn it.

People have this drive to be the best or the greatest which leads to this sense of exclusivity in which ego breeds driving people mad and since most people are mad you can just laugh and wonder how mad are people willing to get before life smacks some sense into them and puts them back into their place.

Possessing and achieving satisfies the ego although the feeling is not joy it’s delusion, the pleasure that comes from possession only lasts until the duration of possession which will eventually end as everything material comes to an end and the pleasure of achievement lies in the privilege or exclusiveness of it, which is against the nature of life that is inclusive.

Pleasure is a false God, easy to gain and easy to lose. Spirituality is not about denying pleasure it's about seeking something deeper and more profound than pleasure. When you have the realisation of the true nature of blissfulness within it wouldn’t matter how the circumstances in which you exist are and you wouldn’t need any other drugs to feel intoxicated, life will be inebriating unto itself.
